Pentecostals: Our Youngest Siblings

Pentecostalism is one of the most rapidly growing movements in Christianity, with 500 million Pentecostals in 2005, and an increasing voice within Christian dialogue throughout the world.

We caught up with Msgr Juan Usma Gómez of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity to find out what Pentecostalism is, why it has achieved such growth, how the movement affects the Catholic Church, and what the Church is to do in the hope of establishing unity with the youngest of our Christian brothers and sisters.

The Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity is the council of the Roman Curia tasked with promoting ecumenism within the Catholic Church, and establishing theological dialogue with other Christian churches and communities in accordance with Unitatis Redintegratio.
