St Conrad of Piacenza

St Conrad of Piacenza was born around the year 1290 in Piacenza, Italy. While he was hunting he lit a fire that got out of control and destroyed nearby fields and a large forest.. He fled the scene and an innocent peasant was imprisoned, toured to confess and sentenced to death. Overcome with guilt, Conrad confess and paid for the damage property. After he and his wife separated he joined a groups of Franciscan hermits and was gaining a reputation for his holiness. He lived a life of prayer and penance. St Conrad died while kneeling before a crucifix on the 19 February 1351. He was canonised in 1625 and is the patron saint against hernias.
