Sts. Cyril and Methodius

Saints Cyril and Methodius were two Byzantine Greek brothers born in Thessaloniki in the 9th century. These brothers and their disciples would become great missionaries to the Slavic countries, and translated Scripture and the Liturgy into the Slavonic language. They are venerated in both the Catholic and Orthodox Churches. These two saints were made co-patrons of Europe with St Benedict by St John Paul II.
