Pope St Pius V was born on the 7 January 1504 in Bosco, Italy. He was Pope from 1566-1572. During his papacy, he implemented the reforms of the Council of Trent as well as ordering the seminaries for the training of priests. He also published a new missal and catechism and established the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) classes for the young children. St Pius V died on the 1 May 1572 and was canonised in 1712 by Pope Clement XI. He is the patron saint of Bosco Marengo, Italy.
