St Casimir was born on the 3rd October 1458 in Cracow, Poland. He lived a highly disciplined, even severe life, spending a great part of the night in prayer and dedicating himself to lifelong chastity. St Casimir had a great devotion to Mary, he supported the poor and lived a virtuous life. St Casimir died on the 4th March 1484 in Grodno, Grand Duchy of Lithuania (modern Belarus) from tuberculosis and was canonised by Pope Clement VII in 1602. He is the patron saint of Lithuania, Poland.
