St Albert the Great was born in 1206. He is well known as a Dominican for influencing the Church’s stance toward Aristotelian philosophy as well as the teacher and mentor of St Thomas Aquinas. His many interests prompted him to write a compendium of all knowledge: natural science, logic, rhetoric, mathematics, astronomy, ethics, economics, politics, and metaphysics. His explanation of learning took 20 years to complete and consisted in 38 volumes of work. Albert died in 1206 and was canonized and named Doctor of the church in 1931. He is the patron saint of scientists and philosophers.
