Christopher Dawson’s Response to Christian Latin Poetry

“Whether it be St Patrick’s Old Irish poetry or Dante’s glorious Divine vision in the Comedy, Christian poetry confirmed man’s need for belief, consolation and – of course – redemption.”

In this presentation entitled “Christopher Dawson’s response to Culture and Religion in Christian Latin Poetry”, Dr Nora Liassis explores the poetic works of Christians in the fourth and fifth centuries and their interaction with the Roman culture and society.

This presentation was part of The Christopher Dawson Centre for Cultural Studies’ 2015 Colloquium on the theme “Ideas Dangerous to Atheism”, hosted in Hobart, Australia.
