Mystery of Self Deception: Pt 2

0

PhariseesJesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but because you now say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.” (John 9:41).
In a consumer age in which our pride is pandered to, and that under the name of boosting self-esteem, the Bible can sound harsh but this is because it presents an uncompromising view of how far we have fallen.

In this three-part series presented at the Catholic Institute of Sydney (see part one), Dr Robert Tilley explores human beings after the fall, and our tendency to deceive both ourselves and others. He looks at the signs, causes and consequences of self-deception, as well as the antidote.

This second talk is entitled ‘Being blind to being blind: The corruption of conscience and the evasion of responsibility.’

Dr Robert Tilley is a lecturer in biblical studies and ancient languages at the Catholic Institute of Sydney and in Christian literature at the Aquinas Academy.
