The mystery of God becoming man is not something we should take for granted. No other religion in the world shares this belief. Why does God humble Himself so much? Out of complete selfless love, for you and for me. Jesus could have appeared on earth as a fully grown man, but He comes to us as a baby, in the sanctity of a woman’s womb. Jesus comes to us through Mary, and in doing so He teaches us that we are to return to Him the same way – through Mary.

Mary could have used Her free will and rejected the angel’s invitation to accept this strange pregnancy. But no, Mary constantly embraces the will of God, even when it does not make sense from a worldly point of view. She knows that God’s will, at any moment, is the best thing that can happen to her.

Mary knows that She is deeply loved and with that love, comes absolute trust. Mary’s words to the angel Gabriel offers us a chance to reflect deeply and imitate her ‘yes’: – Let it be done to me according to your word!
