According to tradition, the Presentation of Mary is a feast day that commemorates the presentation of the Blessed Virgin as a child in the temple. Mary, at the age of three, was brought by her parents to the Temple, in fulfillment of a vow, there to be educated. According to legend, here she was reared like a dove and received her nourishment from the hand of an angel. Mary remained in the Temple until puberty, at which point she was assigned to Joseph as guardian.
