1

St Prosper of Aquitaine was born around the year 390 in the Roman Providence of Aquitaine. He was known for being “the best disciple of Augustine,” who devoted his life to defending St Augustine’s doctrines of grace and predestination against those who opposed it. This saint was a layman who worked tirelessly to increase the people’s understanding of the faith and to educate them in their mistakes. He became widely known for his work in converting heretics and sometimes leading pilgrimages to Rome, Italy so that heretics could hear the truth staight from the Pope. Prosper became secretary to Pope St Leo the Great and he used that position to spread the truth and to teach against heresy. St Prosper died around the year 455 in Rome and his feast day is on the 25th June.
