St Maria Crescentia Hoss

1

St Maria Crescentia Hoss was born on the 20 October 1682 at Kaufbeuren, Bavaria, Germany. During her childhood, she spent during her play time praying in the parish church, assisting those who were poorer than her and had mastered the truths of her religion that she was permitted to make her holy Communion at the age of seven. In the town, she was called “the little angel.” Maria is known for her bodily afflictions and pain. She had headaches, toothaches, lost the ability to walk, her hands and feet gradually becoming so crippled that her body curled up into a fetal position. Despite her sufferings, Maria was filled with peace and joy as she died on Easter Sunday in 1744. She was canonised by St John Paul II in 2001.
