St Dominic Savio

1

St Dominic Savio was born in Italy in 1842. He lived a prayerful life at a very early age. When he made his first Holy Communion, at the age of seven, Dominic wrote down the following as his plan of life: “I will go to confession very often and go to communion as often as my confessor gives me permission. I will celebrate Sundays and feast days as holy days. Jesus and Mary will be my friends. Death rather than sin.” St Dominic Savio was a student of St John Bosco. He was studying to be a priest when he died on the 9th March 1857, aged fourteen. Dominic was canonized in 1954 by Pope Pius XII and is the patron saint for choirboys.
