St Clement of Hofbauer

St Clement Hofbauer was born in Tasswitz, Moravia (now the Czech Republic) on 26th December 1751. He was known as a Redemptorist preacher and reformer. Clement preached, built orphanages and schools, and established a vast Redemptorist presence in Warsaw, Poland. He founded a Catholic college and began to reform and revitalize the Catholic faith of Austria and Germany. St Clement died in Vienna on the 15th March. He was canonized in 1909 by Pope Pius X and is the patron saint of Vienna, Austria.
