St Andrew the Apostle

St Andrew the Apostle is known for being a missionary in Asia Minor and Greece and possibly in modern Russia and Poland. He was one of the first Apostles and is the brother of St Peter and a fisherman by trade. Andrew was a follower of St John the Baptist and he was leading people to Jesus in the early days of the Church. He was martyred on a saltire cross (x-shaped) and preached on it for two days before he died. He is the patron for fisherman.
