St Ambrose

St Ambrose was born around the year 340 in Southern Gaul (modern day Germany). He was a Roman citizen and became the highest ranking official in Milan. While studying Christianity, the people demanded him that he become their next bishop. He resisted at first but assented and on the same day he became Bishop of Milan he was also baptised and ordained a priest. Ambrose is one of the most influential ecclesiastical figures of the 4th century who had a major influence of converting St Augustine to Christianity. Ambrose died  in 397 in Milan, Italy and he is counted as one of the four original doctors of the Church. he is the patron saint for bees, beekeepers and candle makers.
