St Agnes of Assisi

St Agnes of Assisi was born in 1206. She is known for being the Younger sister of Saint Clare of Assisi, and her first follower. Agnes left home two weeks after Clare to join the Benedictines at San Angelo di Panzo at age fifteen. She later became a Poor Claire and established monasteries all around Italy. Agnes had a great devotion to prayer and strict penances. She died three months after Clare in 1253 and was canonised a saint in 1753.
