St Magdalene of Canossa was born on the 1 March 1774. She is well known as being the founder of the Daughters of Charity. Magdalene lived out her life by being called to serve Christ to the poor as well as the sick in hospital and in people’s homes. She also helped delinquent and abandoned girls. St Magdalene died on the 10 April 1835 and was canonised by St John Paul II in 1988.
