Blessed Rafal Chylinski

Blessed Rafal Chylinski was born Melchoir Chylinski in Poland in 1694. he joined the Conventual Friars in 1715 and was ordained two years later and took the name Rafal. While sent to Lagiewniki, Poland, Rafal distributed food, supplies and clothing to the poor, and played the harp, lute and mandolin to accompany liturgical hymns. Spent 20 months in Warsaw ministering to flood and epidemic victims. Known for simple and candid sermons, generosity, and as a great confessor. All classes were drawn to the self-sacrificing way he lived out his religious profession and priestly ministry. Rafal died in 1741 and beatified by St John Paul II in 1991.
