Sylvester of Assisi was one of the first twelve followers of St Francis of Assisi and the first priest in the Franciscan Order. A holy and prayerful man, Sylvester travelled with Francis and became his advisor. He brought peace to a city that was in the midst of a civil war by driving the devils away. Sylvester of Assisi died in 1240 and is buried next to St Francis of Assisi in the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi.
