St Peter Martinez is also known as Peter of Mozonzo. He was an Archbishop and leader of the Spanish Reconquista. Peter was born in Galicia, Spain and became a Benedictine monk and served in the Abbey of St Mary at Monzonzo. He was appointed Abbot and later Archbishop of St. Martin of Antealares at Compostela. Peter emerged as one of the most prominent advocates of the Reconquista and is traditionally credited with being one of the composers of the Salve Regina. He died around the year 1000.
