St Hilary of Arles

St Hilary of Arles was born in France in the year 400. He was the Bishop of Arles (modern day France) and ordained at the age of twenty-nine. During his time as bishop he did manual labor to earn money for the poor, sold vessels to ransom captives and travelled by foot and wore simple clothes. He also had difficulty in relating with other bishops and he was stripped of his powers by St Leo the Great. He died in 449. St Hilary of Arles was a man of talent and piety.
