St Francesco Fasani was born in Italy in 1681. He was a sought after confessor and preacher, a loyal friend of the poor, never hesitating to seek from benefactors what was needed. Francis had a very deep love of prayer and he was known to levitate while praying. He joined the Conventual Franciscan order in 1695, taking the name Francis and was ordained ten years later. Francis taught philosophy to younger friars, served as guardian of his friary, provincial of the Order, master of novices, and finally pastor in his hometown. He died in 1742 and was later canonised by St John Paul II in 1986.
