St Cecilia

St Cecilia was born in the second century and was martyred in the third century. She is well-known for offering her virginity to God. According to legend, her parents had her married to a Roman named Valerian and through her influence, Valerian was converted and later martyred along with his brother. Cecilia converted over 400 people until she was arrested and sentenced to death. Cecilia was so highly venerated by the ancient Roman Church that her name was placed in the Canon of the Mass. She is the patron of musicians.
