St Catherine of Alexandria is also known as Saint Catherine of the Wheel. According to legend, Catherine converted to Christianity after receiving a vision. By the age of 18, she debated pagan philosophers who also became Christians after they were amazed at her wisdom and debating skills. She also converted 200 soldiers and members of the emperor’s family. She was sentenced to be executed on a spiked wheel which was shattered. Catherine was then beheaded. She is the patron of philosophers.
