St Conrad of Parzham was born on the 22 December 1818 in Parzham, Bavaria, Germany. From an early age he devoted himself to solitary prayer and peacemaking and he joined the Capuchins as a brother. Conrad spent most of his life as porter where he dealt with many people, obtaining many of the friary supplies and generously providing for the poor who came to the door. He developed a special rapport with the children as well as spending many hours in front of the Blessed Sacrament. St Conrad died on the 21 April 1894 and was canonised by Pope Pius Xi in 1934. He is the patron saint of doorkeepers.
