Blessed Yolanda of Poland

Blessed Yolanda of Poland is also known as Jolenta of Poland. She was born in 1235 in Esztergom, Hungry. She is the sister of Saint Margaret of Hungary and Saint Kinga (Cunegunda). One of her father’s sisters was the great Franciscan saint, Elizabeth of Hungary. She married Bolesaus, the Duke of Greater Poland and devoted her life to helping the poor, the sick, widows and orphans as well as helping to build hospitals, converts and churches. After the death of her husband she entered the the convert of the Poor Clares and became abbess. Yolanda died in 1298.
