The Truth about the Priesthood

In the first Life to the Full talk, Fr Greg Morgan presents the truth of the Priesthood: The reality that all priests are sinners and far from perfect; the immense sacrifice of life for the absolute service of others; the immeasurable privilege of being in the person of Christ through Sacraments and to hold God in his hands through the Eucharist; and the scandal to the world of the counter-cultural life of a priest.

N.B. Pedophilia (the sexual abuse of a prepubescent child) among priests is extremely rare, affecting only 0.3% of the entire population of clergy. This figure, cited in the book Pedophiles and Priests by non-Catholic scholar, Philip Jenkins, is from the most comprehensive study to date, which found that only one out of 2,252 priests considered over a thirty-year period was afflicted with pedophilia. In the recent Boston scandal, only four of the more than eighty priests labeled by the media as “pedophiles” are actually guilty of molesting young children.

Life to the Full is an initiative of the youth at All Saints Liverpool aimed at helping young people actively engage with life issues through catechesis and other opportunities for formation and action. Catechesis sessions take place on Tuesdays on a fortnightly basis at All Saints Parish in Liverpool, Sydney. For more information, visit the Life to the Full Facebook page.
